Upcoming Changes for Age Group for 2026-2027 Season
U.S. Youth Soccer, US Club Soccer, and the Association of Youth Soccer Organizations have jointly announced a significant change to how age groups will be organized starting with the 2026–27 season. Instead of basing teams on the calendar year (January–December), youth soccer nationwide will return to using a seasonal cycle that runs from August through July to better align players with their school-grade peers. Jr Gala Recognizes Players of the Year
The 2026 Crown & Shield Jr Gala Awards were handed out this year in a ceremony honoring our jr players, coaches and families. Every age group was recognized for their effort, commitment and dedication to becoming a better player, teammate and person throughout the season. View Winners >
Our spring program uses a player development format inspired by the Belgian FA. For younger players, sessions focus on dribbling and scoring (shooting)—the skills that best match how kids learn at that age—using a fun “Dribbling Football” approach on mini-pitches with adapted goals. As players get older, they will progress into receiving and passing, along with basic positions and tactics. More >
US Youth Soccer announced a landmark format change to its National Championships, starting with the 2025-26 season.
Beginning with the current season, State Cup champions from all 54 USYS State Associations will advance directly to the National Championships, eliminating the traditional Regional Championship round. More >
